I started my art journey in my home state of New Mexico, spending childhood summers with my grandmother, learning to draw and the theories of color and perspective.

After completing my military service as an Army field artillery officer, I returned to my art practice and taught myself oil painting to reconnect with my roots in the American West and to interpret the world around me.

I am inspired by the intersection of legend and reality in American history, the relationships of light and darkness, and the overlooked corners of everyday life. I don’t assign authoritative meaning to any of my work, hoping that what is meaningful to me can find meaning in the eyes of others.
